—THE SECOND COMING

My first year of college I signed up for a poetry class (Yeats and …). I ended up sitting in the class learning about the horrors of the Holocaust—video footage and all. The professor, for whatever reason, used this class for his own purposes. I had to buy two poetry books for the class. I don’t think we looked in them more than a half a dozen times. I am not angry at the man who did this. After all, he is just a man, and obviously had strong feelings about this horrendous catastrophe. I should have asked about his teaching style before signing up for the class. Back then, we did not have the means to google reviews, but it is good to be informed before entering an area of study. It is important to have some knowledge of what you will be spending time and money on. And if parents are paying—it would be good for them to understand what they are paying for—what their children will be exposed to-enging in. This includes the vocations of the Religious (Christianity, Islam …).

James says let your yes be yes and your no be no, but too often, and I have been ‘victim’ to this more than once … people choose apart from what they promise—what they agree to. They say one thing but do another. They advertise to the world that they are ____, but behind closed doors, where they think no one can see them, they plot and misuse—sometimes even abuse

Paul states very clearly when he speaks on the gifts given by the Holy Spirit.

12 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Spirit.

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another diverse kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

 

Paul also says to put away the things of a child.

 

 

And The Parable of the Mina speaks powerfully on how gifts are to be executed.

IN LUKE:

11 Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. 12 Therefore He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas,[a] and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ 14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’

15 “And so it was that when he returned, having received the kingdom, he then commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. 16 Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ 17 And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ 18 And the second came, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned five minas.’ 19 Likewise he said to him, ‘You also be over five cities.’

20 “Then another came, saying, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have kept put away in a handkerchief. 21 For I feared you, because you are an austere man. You collect what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 And he said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth I will judge you, you wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, collecting what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow. 23 Why then did you not put my money in the bank, that at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’

24 “And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to him who has ten minas.’ 25 (But they said to him, ‘Master, he has ten minas.’) 26 ‘For I say to you, that to everyone who has will be given; and from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 27 But bring here those enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, and slay them before me.’”

*Note: hard or austere “man” refers to one not given to solicitousness and nonsense. He is not of folly or forgetfulness. He has serious business that involve many lives and cannot afford to pay cowardliness and misuse of Mina. Abuse is forbidden, and lies (through deception) are an abomination. If one is given “gift” … one should stay TRUE to it. One cannot hide or deny this. What does happen is people of the stature of insubordination are found out, and the shame is on them. We don’t need to tell him that this happens often in the world. We see the dishonest, the abuser and the liar revealed, and when this comes out, the people are angry, dismayed … wounded …

 

But to come as the man in the Parable of the Lost Son … having realized the malfunction and dishonesty—desiring Maturity—is for the asking. We speak to the many professing Faith in a God of just means in the honor and glory on Truth … and not relying on the titles and denominations for this Character unto Peace. Man is too often selfish, seeing only what he thinks, hearing only in part if he hears at all, and not what is needed for the rise of the Movement. He lacks the sensibility to know right from wrong in the advent of the soul—what is needed here. He cannot see the scope and importance of “the many”, which is the greater number—instead, thinking himself, or his “idea”—opinion—principles—are the stonework. He may then find, after loss of gift, that he has not endured the “instruction” needed for the greater work—that which is greater than himself. He has not persevered despite being shown how this should be.

One is tested, you see, to make sure one is in agreement on what is required for this work.

And it is not hard to understand where in this passage man can be unfaithful, even to a place of extreme danger for many:

14 And no wonder! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Lord says to Elijah … And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

Elijah flees Jezebel, but what does Jezebel represent in the story? She represents the challenge that accompanies the Gift … Jezebel is paradoxically, wisdom in instruction, and Elijah flees from her because he is afraid. Elijah is then told what to do for the renewing on the heart to the mind—that necessary partnering—before he can enter restitution.

 

History has shown us where man uses for his own convenience and purpose. Whether for Atheistic agenda or Christian agenda, Islam, Mormon —Political agenda … the evidence is there. Time and time again we see stories in the news where this person or that person was hiding behind a vocation—a profession—doctrine—but engaging differently … even criminally. Credentials, photos, party affiliations, marriages … are often lies, or merely a mask for something else. Also, what is alarmingly true is the huge number of instances where man is unaware of his condition. He is unaware because he has allowed himself to get caught up in emotion (touching on what we shared in previous essays on The Prayer of the Heart). He reacts through fear, and he acts on misinformation.

When this becomes an epidemic where man refuses to acknowledge its disease—–there is an eclipse.

 

Allow us to explore here …

There are two words that Americans (and other english speaking) use that we find terribly misused and misunderstood. These are orthodox and gnostic … and both, we view, and experience, as ACTIVE. Let us clear the air here and explain a little in the usage of these.

When I came into study of Eastern Orthodoxy, I came into the belief that orthodox meant correct or right behavior, and eventually saw this as “within” honest measure, or honest place of worth … and this was shown as personal endeavor. It was a coming into awareness of me—where I was and where I needed to be, and it required that I move, even if it meant I would be subjected to harassment, criticism even ridicule (this is Scriptural, btw). While on forums a few years ago (for the first time), I referred to myself as orthodox spiritual. This seemed a safe way to express my Faith without offending the Orthodox Christians 🙂  Later I learned that people thought “orthodox” was the ultra dogmatic of the Religious, and I saw to move away from using it. During the movement, I was brought to gnosis, and saw to say I am gnostic; however, recently I saw poor use of this and wondered where and how such weak understanding on these has been permitted to develop. I suppose if I stay with gnosis, and do not say gnostic, even with a small g and not a capital g … people might begin to understand that we are not referring to Religion as a SYSTEM of belief and practice, but a life growing—Spiritual LIFE affirming place.

Where we saw inconsistent and poor thinking on the understanding of “gnostic” recently was where a commenter used this to explain Adolf Hitler’s engineered philosophy for his regime of mass destruction. This struck me as misleading information, but I did look it up and found the following:

“National Socialism, the political philosophy of the Third Reich, is a unique phenomena in the history of political thought – paradoxically, because National Socialism is not strictly speaking a political philosophy.
National Socialism is not a political and economic ideology, because it is a gnostic-religious philosophy – a quasi-religion – a separate understanding of the cosmos – which, while looking to the future, has its roots in the distant, ancient past.
And the essence of the National Socialist ‘religion’ is Gnosticism.”

Collective Aryan unconscious[edit]
“In the book Black Sun, Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke reports how Carl Gustav Jung described “Hitler as possessed by the archetype of the collective Aryan unconscious and could not help obeying the commands of an inner voice“. In a series of interviews between 1936 and 1939, Jung characterized Hitler as an archetype, often manifesting itself to the complete exclusion of his own personality. “‘Hitler is a spiritual vessel, a demi-divinity; even better, a myth. Benito Mussolini is a man’ … the messiah of Germany who teaches the virtue of the sword. ‘The voice he hears is that of the collective unconscious of his race‘”.[15]

Jung’s suggestion that Hitler personified the collective Aryan unconscious deeply interested and influenced Miguel Serrano, who later concluded that Jung was merely psychologizing the ancient, sacred mystery of archetypal possession by the gods, independent metaphysical powers that rule over their respective races and occasionally possess their members.[16] A similar esoteric thesis is also put forward by Michael Moynihan in his book Lords of Chaos.”

We do not need to delve into Gnosticism. Gnosticism is a Religion, and we are not of Religion, but our reason for not going there, especially for the purpose of this work, is because it contains faucets we find indelibly misleading, no differently than much of what we read on other Religious sects. Now … in the above, where it says that Jung characterized Hitler as an archetype, often manifesting itself to the complete exclusion of his own personality … we would change that last to “exclusion of his conscience”. Conscience holds something worth the ability to partner in correct behavior, but if [archetype] is left undiagnosed, it gathers momentum for something cataclysmic within the mind … as there is no caretaker to keep it from overdosing, suicide …

The ancient Mystics (and Prophets) knew of the “spirit” and how it can make and break. Many of these ancients of The Philokalia were gnostics, but not necessarily of a set Religion with calculated mandates born from a set of strict principles (dogma). A gnostic is one with his inner eulogy—a praise of death to his vain face that he might perform in the character of the new, which is also praiseworthy … but a praising of God in the Essence and Energy. If we could pick out any gnostic within the vein of the Prayer of the Heart, we would call attention to John Klimacus, and John Klimacus is no Adolf Hitler. Although we could say that some of the navel-gazers were a bit Hitleresque on themselves—going to extremes to eradicate ‘something’ they believed existed within that was of incorrect emotion or passion ………. reminding us of anti-bacterial soaps and antibiotics used to the point of eradicating some of the good bacteria that is needed to function within worthwhile purpose in certain places at certain times.

*Over the past 10 years or so, however, researchers have demonstrated that the human body is not such a neatly self-sufficient island after all. It is more like a complex ecosystem—a social network—containing trillions of bacteria and other microorganisms that inhabit our skin, genital areas, mouth and especially intestines. In fact, most of the cells in the human body are not human at all. Bacterial cells in the human body outnumber human cells 10 to one. What we are looking at here is “bacteria” that is not human, but needs the flesh to accomplish something it is born of, or born within … for a purpose … which leaves us to wonder how Religious justify their theology on what is VIRGIN and what is not virgin. Based on scientific findings of the human body, there is no such thing as a virgin—is there? if speaking of the flesh, unless the Religious wish to begin determining which bacteria is virginal and which is not? If they are speaking of the mind (man’s thoughts), and not the flesh … who can say what is virginal but God (this is Scriptural, btw). Has man made his theology his God?

Getting back to the austere man of the Parable of the Mina … one might say an austere place (within) for specific work is necessary for very important gifting. A surgeon doing surgery on someone with a brain tumor does not go in half drunk if he desires the best possible outcome. A parent of a student wants a teacher who abides by the rules he agreed to in being hired for the job. A parishioner wants a celibate priest to be celibate, and not serving the Sacraments in dishonesty. A person working any project wants his partner(s) communicative … and honest, to say the least.

If God chooses one to gift something important in His work, he wants to know this one is not just ready, but worthy of this work …  usually because it is something epic, something much needed … and he wants to be sure this one is willing to move to improve, and willing to accept criticism … rejection … and is not in denial of himself. If bacteria comes in for this work, Lord will only choose the one desiring a balance of diet (fasting-feeding …) for the work needed, and not one seeking selfishly.

We have said that “Gnosticism” is coming. It is. Variations are already seeded, and beginning to sprout, and this can take many forms—But how does one understand the differences (theologically speaking) and why do people fear the gnostic, which may not be boasting Religious affiliation? Why did the Roman Catholic Church and others use all methods available to try to eradicate the gnostic, and yet this continued to flourish in some of the monasteries in eastern mindset? some even claiming Christ as God?

The Roman Catholic agenda at times, including its inception, has been very much like Hitler’s engineered philosophy. If you read its precepts in pages under Chapter One, The Papal Reform Movement, The Christian East and the Rise of the Papacy by Aristeides Papadakis (in collaboration with John Meyerdorff) you see a “head” filled with a desire for power, and self-worth. Policy of the Politician can be of this same parenting. If Evil is its own dictator … how many of its mini me having ingested all kinds of self-aggrandizing theories are scattered about … just waiting for their colony?
