The Courtship of Elijah’s Father

March 22, 2014

People let me tell you ’bout my best friend … Do you remember the song from the TV series on this from 1969 into the early 70s? The song is truly magical. Thinking of this song led me to discernment on Spirit Gifts, and how these “play out” in Holy Scripture that we might enter Knowledge, or come in to Understanding. There are some Prophets written who are “Purely” Myth. You know the saying: Fiction is a lie to get to a truth … well, the Myth I am referring is not lie, but Truth. I do not believe Elijah or John the Baptist actually existed in the flesh, but I do believe these are Symbolic of the Life in Love (God), and this holds a melody beyond the flesh. Somewhere, the author knew what was expected of him, and shared stories of profound substance—expounding on the unique revelation of God, on and within the character of [this] Sensory Appeal. These are the Mythic Artists of God. I think the Big Bang buddies from the Thursday night TV show might find a Justice League costume fit for a king in these, for the Artist is a powerful instrument, as well as a signature statement. Just two names, Elijah and John, house significant Purpose.

The great Storytellers of God are born, reborn, and remain. These are your Prophets, and each are used differently, and for different reasons, but not all come into the Spirit, and are used epically in the changing of Seasons. Some are “a type of prophet”, different from say, Enoch, or Isaiah, Jeremiah, or John Chrysostom. J. R. R. Tolkien was a type of prophet, used not so much for his devoutness within his religion, or for sharing in ecclesial nature of Holy Scripture, but for the storytelling on man, human, and the sorcerous world of evil, and he persuaded the atheist, C. S. Lewis, through the conviction of his faith to come into belief on God. C. S. Lewis then went on to write more “seasonally” on the Word. Neither of these are saints or angelkind, but they hold a portrait within the Church of Life. These are the colorful leaves on the branches of the Tree brought forth through the Seasons.

The novelist Ann Rice once responded to one of my forum posts by saying that C. S. Lewis was a misogynist. I am not one of her star-struck posters, and therefore was not compelled to respond religiously. Anyone who can write (as he did in Mere Christianity) that Love is God held some measure of unique understanding, as opposed to hanging on threads trying to fuel political agenda, or self-interest, which is more Spiritually understood as misogyny. This has to do with that veil of iniquity, which is a bit complex to get into just now. Lewis grew up in a time of what I call “male room overture”, and dealt with a lot of atheistic mindsets, and those generalizing the “God phenomenon”, but his writing was NOT misogynistic. His Art did not show the female as unnatural, or godless, or weak, or less than human. Look at the characters Lucy and Susan in the Chronicles of Narnia. However, Lewis did meet his match in Helen Joy Davidman, and this I believe was a tremendous lesson for him, which continued something much needed within his Spiritual Growth. And what is beautifully spoken in this uniting was the “untying” of Lewis in his “marriage” with the academic bed to the sensual and personal realm of mystic with angelkind. Surprised? So be it. Yes, I believe Helen Joy to have been angelkind. For me, the signs are all there, including the unusual or unique intelligence, along with a forensic creativity. And please understand, God uses these in ways man does not yet understand, but for man to enter here, he must be willing to step out of his own prejudices and preconceived notions on God Purpose, that it might lighten the load enough for him to hear Truth.

The story on Lewis continues, for man has to better understand his Worth, and this in unity with his companion as compassion. He has to re-view the works, seeing them from another vantage point, quite possibly within that of the Feminine Divine. I shared once on SPIR that I show a little that others might show a lot, but we shall see. If man resists the urge to question, he denies the call to reason. And let me tell you, friends, Reason is a factual Light in the Journey of God and Man, what is Prophesy. Reason wakes me in the middle of the night and challenges my Senses, and right when I think I have something sorted, a switch is pulled, and another curtain is drawn, and that window looks ever so promising. If one could catch an image of me in the night, one would surely see a face drawn in contest. Now, before Lewis passed, he came into a necessary experience, and he had just enough time to share in this: Grief, as well as Joy.

Surprised by joy — impatient as the Wind
I turned to share the transport — Oh! with whom
But Thee, deep buried in the silent tomb,
That spot which no vicissitude can find?
Love, faithful love, recalled thee to my mind —
But how could I forget thee? Through what power,
Even for the least division of an hour,
Have I been so beguiled as to be blind
To my most grievous loss? — That thought’s return
Was the worst pang that sorrow ever bore,
Save one, one only, when I stood forlorn,
Knowing my heart’s best treasure was no more;
That neither present time, nor years unborn.

Could to my sight that heavenly face restore.

*The Mystic and the Prophet’s Work, and Worth, is often before him.

Francis had his Clare. Yes, she was angelkind. Through her, he continued in his transformation, and the rise of Reason, that he might move into his ID, but of course, for these, it doesn’t stop at the passing of the flesh. The Work continues. Caravaggio’s Saint Francis in Prayer  (below) is the most true, and forlorn, as well as igniting in appearance … of all images on him. This Mystic’s Work challenges the Senses, and calls one to contemplate the union of Light. It is here that the Spirit finds its nesting Place. I will expound on this painting in another essay, for I find it powerfully instrumental in the cadence on service.

The match of angelkind to human is not always male to female, or female to male, when of the flesh. John had his Jesus, but John, of course, was also of Spirit. It is often the case where one stays for a period of time to sum up a Place … and to Prepare a Way. The Book of Revelation is not the end Verse, but the Beginning … of the End. So the last shall be first, and the first last (Matthew 20.16). We are in a New Season, with a NEW Vision. Truth doesn’t change … just the way it is viewed, and used.

Hard to grasp? Let’s look at the story of the Prophet Hosea.

Go take for yourself a wife of fornication,

And children of fornication;

For the land will surely go a-whoring

By departing from the Lord.

Religion often teaches that Hosea was told to marry a harlot, but what this is saying is that Hosea was to go to a  bed of those who were not honoring the Lord, and be within this place. This bed of what Scripture often refers to as “unrighteousness” is man married to those things apart from God. I have said before on SPIR that Prophets are told to go where they are needed, not often where they are wanted. Just as Jesus says he came not for the righteous, but the unrighteous, the Prophets of God are also brought to these for Purpose. It is important that the religious begin to understand the depth of intent in this call, and once he reasons this in a way that is not demonstrating partiality, then he will begin to understand the Return, and what is meant by RESTORATION AND RENEWAL, rather than reform, or even repudiation.

I watched Saving Mr. Banks last night, and I always know when there is something important for me to see. Well, there were several important signs in that movie, and I encourage everyone wanting to move into depth of Understanding to watch that movie. I will share partly. Toward the end of the movie, when Walt, played by Tom Hanks, is desperate to get “Mrs. Travers” to permit him to bring his version of Mary Poppins to the big screen, he says something hugely relevant regarding the IMAGINATION. See if you can hear it. This is exactly what is meant in the relevance of the Prophets Elijah and John. This is an understanding in Truth—flesh, or not. It is this that compels the belief OF God, FOR God, and in UNION with God.

Peace and Love.
